The Association of Retirement Organizations in Higher Education (AROHE)
The Retired Faculty Association of Rutgers University is a founding member of the Association of Retirement Organizations in Higher Education (AROHE). Through its website, newsletter and conferences, this group shares information about best practices and offers models for organizing and running a retiree organization.
AROHE has prepared a “Start-Up and Development Kit” to guide those who seek to set up faculty and/or staff retirement organizations at their host institutions. The kit summarizes the experiences of members of successful retiree groups and presents guidance on how to begin and maintain a retiree organization. Included are sample by-laws, strategic plans and histories of active organizations. The Rutgers RFA is one of the groups featured in the compendium of histories.
AROHE is a non-profit international network of retiree organizations at colleges and universities that seeks to foster the development and sharing of ideas to assist member organizations in achieving their purposes and goals. Additional information about the organization is available at the website: www.arohe.org .
Individuals or organizations desiring a copy of the Start-Up and Development Kit should contact Janette Brown at jcbrown@usc.edu or write her at USC Emeriti Center, 3715 McClintock Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90089-0191.
